An alternative set of posters for critically acclaimed Wong Kar Wai film In The Mood for Love. This project contains a full-size vertical poster, half-size horizontal poster and promotional movie card. The design draws inspiration from the movie’s deep connection to its set time and place.

 

Referencing vintage Chinese and Taiwanese newspaper layouts as well as period street signs from British Hong Kong, the typographic texture of the design sets an environmental atmosphere. The illustrated titles and roses play upon illumination, further referencing the noir stylings of the film.
